Autoclave Technician

  • Maintain and operate autoclave equipment.
  • Carry out all processes in accordance to safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Monitor and adjust autoclave parameters as needed.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and cleaning of autoclave equipment.
  • Troubleshoot any malfunctions and make necessary repairs. 



Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • Qualified Mechanical Artisan(N4) / Trade.
  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in hospital/healthcare.
  • Able to work in a team and manage at least 2 Maintenance Assistants.
  • Proven knowledge and specialist working with Autoclaves.
  • Knowledge of local building legislations (codes) and other related requirements will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Be in possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Able to read, write and speak in English.
  • Computer Skills( MS office)

Responsibilities

Key Outputs

  • Attend to daily job cards as obtained from both internal and external customers and incoming emergency calls from time to time.
  • Repairs and maintenance of autoclaves and maintenance of the autoclave’s rooms.
  • Conduct inspection and fault identification of non- functional machinery using the manufacture specifications and operating guidelines.
  • In depth knowledge of autoclaves operations, installation, maintenance, and repairs including associated systems.
  • Understanding and in-depth knowledge of hospital (CSSD) sterilisation principles.
  • Conduct daily repairs and routine inspection (daily, weekly, and monthly checks) and maintain safe operations of autoclaves and associated accessories.
  • Attend repairs and assist with corrective maintenance as well as fault basil fault-finding autoclaves.
  • Provide proper diagnostic on issues and able to perform fault-finding and troubleshooting on autoclaves.
  • Planning and execution of preventative maintenance of plumbing and units/systems according to the company policies procedures and manufactures’ specifications as determine on the year planner.
  • Able to perform required services and accurate record keeping of both service certificates and deviations job cards for all issues raised during normal and corrective maintenance.
  • Accurately identification of problems and their associated risks which may affect the operations of autoclaves in hospitals.
  • Will be required to be on standby and to respond to after hour’s emergency as per the business operations requirements.
  • Able to build and maintains relationship with clients (nursing staff, patients, and doctors) and ensure that their expectations are met.
  • Able to assist with day-to-day equipment and facilities maintenance not related to autoclaves (boilers, medical gases, vacuum, compressors, cold and hot water, and general building repairs)
  • Able to assist with general maintenance and repairs of the building and/or facilities.
  • Able to act as a technical expert and competent person when providing advice to and/or supervising Maintenance Assistances on sites.
  • Able to monitor and control external contractors work and provide guidance in adherence and compliance to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Must be able to follow and compliant to all technical policies and all legal requirement standards.
  • Able to maintain records for services and maintenance work done on sites.
  • Able to participate and prepare the hospital for various audits (DOH and QMS)
  • In depth knowledge and a adherence to Occupational Health and Safety act requirements
